Doda Police Crack Motorcycle Theft Case Within 48 Hours

Doda Police cracked a motorcycle theft case within 48 hours, apprehending two accused individuals involved in the criminal act. The police’s quick response showcased their commitment to public safety in Doda district.

On November 5, 2025, Omair Ullah Wani, a resident of Jathi, reported his motorcycle, registration number JK06A-6107, missing at the Police Station Assar. The timely response from the police led to the registration of FIR No. 37/2025 under Section 302(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following the complaint, a special team was formed under the direction of SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta (JKPS). The team, led by PSI Shivam Dev Singh, aimed to investigate the case thoroughly. Their efforts bore fruit when they detained the two suspects in the early hours of November 6.

During questioning, the accused revealed they stole the motorcycle during the night of October 26. The stolen vehicle was subsequently recovered from their possession.

The suspects, identified as Mohd Tariq @ Baffer from Bhagtha, Katra, and Munish Kumar from Bali Chanalra, Bhalesa, both have criminal backgrounds. Mohd Tariq, specifically, is a habitual offender and absconder with multiple outstanding warrants against him.

Authorities noted that Mohd Tariq is wanted in several districts, including Reasi and Udhampur, along with multiple criminal charges. He has been involved in thefts and burglaries across various states, as evidenced by a long list of FIRs registered against him.

The police revealed that Tariq had evaded arrest for an extended period, prompting the issuance of a general arrest warrant by the Hon’ble Court under Section 512 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.PC).

The proactive measures taken by Doda Police demonstrate their dedication to combating repeat offenders and enhancing community safety. The arrest sends a strong message to criminals that the police will act swiftly and effectively.
