PATNA, Nov 14: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has surged ahead in the early trends of Bihar Assembly election counting, leading in 166 seats, significantly surpassing the majority mark of 122, according to data from the Election Commission. The opposition coalition, known as the INDIA bloc, currently trails behind with leads in 59 seats out of a total of 243. As several rounds of counting remain, officials caution that these figures may still change.
Within the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads in 72 seats, the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) follows with 71, while the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP-RV) stands at 18. The Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM(S)) leads in four seats, and the Revolutionary Left Movement (RLM) is ahead in one seat.
In contrast, among the INDIA bloc, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leads in 43 seats, while the Indian National Congress shows leads in eight, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation in six, and both the CPI and CPI(M) lead in one seat each.
The Jan Suraaj Party, spearheaded by Prashant Kishor, and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) finds themselves trailing in all constituencies they contested.
Among prominent candidates, Khesari Lal Yadav from RJD trails in Chhapra, while BJP’s Maithili Thakur secures a lead in Alinagar. In Ragunathpur, Osama Shahab of the RJD leads, whereas JD(U) minister Leshi Singh maintains a lead in Dhamdaha.
Tejashwi Yadav, the chief ministerial face of the INDIA bloc, currently holds a lead in Raghopur. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary in Tarapur and Vijay Kumar Sinha in Lakhisarai have also maintained their leads.
In Mahua, Tej Pratap Yadav stands in fourth place as LJP(RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leads in the constituency.
