Kupwara, September 22: In a significant move to enhance livelihood opportunities, Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Suse (IAS) flagged off a group of beneficiaries for an exposure-cum-training visit to the Government Sheep Breeding Farm at Poshnar, Rajwar Kupwara. This initiative, organized by the Department of Sheep Husbandry under the SEWA PARV program, aims to empower local sheep breeders with modern techniques and knowledge.
During the flag-off ceremony at the DC Office Complex, Deputy Commissioner Suse praised the Department of Sheep Husbandry for its ongoing efforts to support local breeders. He assured beneficiaries of the district administration’s full commitment to promoting modern sheep rearing methods. He emphasized that livestock holds immense potential for livelihood generation, particularly in rural areas.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr. Ishrat, highlighted the exposure program’s objectives. He stated, “This initiative aims to provide participants with hands-on training and practical demonstrations on scientific sheep rearing, flock management, breeding practices, and animal health care.” Dr. Ishrat noted that such programs play a crucial role in helping farmers adopt improved management practices and increase productivity while ensuring better animal welfare.
The training visit will include interactive sessions led by technical experts from the Department of Sheep Husbandry, who will impart knowledge on contemporary techniques that result in higher returns and promote sustainable growth in sheep husbandry.
