Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will chair a Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting at Raj Bhavan in Jammu and Kashmir today at 11 am. This meeting aims to review the region’s security landscape and prepare for upcoming winter challenges.
The UHQ serves as the central command for security and intelligence operations in J&K. It includes high-ranking officials tasked with ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Sources indicate that the meeting will cover critical issues, including the recent escalation of tensions at the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, alongside strategies for winter preparedness. With winter approaching, security measures must adapt to potentially challenging conditions.
During the meeting, LG Sinha will receive briefs on the current security status, particularly concerning activities along the LoC and international borders within the Union Territory.
Key attendees include Army’s Northern Commander Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, along with heads of various paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies. Their insights will be crucial for formulating effective responses to prevailing security challenges.
In May of this year, LG Sinha presided over the last UHQ meeting following the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’, which aimed at combating terrorism in the region. He had emphasized conducting “precise, intelligence-led operations” to neutralize threats and dismantle support networks of militants.
This focus on strategic operations reflects ongoing efforts to maintain security in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly as winter approaches and potential threats increase.
